Rae Barton Fruit & Veg celebrates 113 years in business and is the longest serving fruit and veg stall within Newport’s Indoor Market.

Owner Richard Soar took over the business in February of 2016 and for the past three years, he has continued the Barton’s family legacy of offering fantastic fruit and vegetables at an amazing price.

Richard believes in good old-fashioned customer service, which seems to be lacking in the bigger corporate superstores. It’s this personal touch that makes shopping at Newport Indoor Market a fantastic and pleasurable experience.

Wherever possible, Richard sources fresh produce from local farms and suppliers, as well as making a range of Rae Barton chutneys, jams and other preserves.

Not only that, there’s a whole host of seasonal additions throughout the year, such as Bullseye Wilja Potatoes, which are perfect for boiling, mashing and making chips out of – priced at £15 for 25kg.

People can take advantage of our free delivery service too on orders over £10, so if you have trouble being mobile, just give us a call and we’ll deliver directly to your door.

You can either give Richard a call or order through the Rae Barton Facebook page, and delivers as far as Ystryd Mynach on a Friday, as he makes his weekly run to the local Police Station.

Commercial businesses can get free delivery too, so if you’re in the food industry and need a local supplier to keep your restaurant, hotel or eatery well-stocked with fresh fruit and vegetables, we can easily cater for your business needs. Richard currently supplies to numerous local businesses and schools, such as Cabin Cwtch, The Greyhound, The Dodger and The Man of Steel to name but a few.

So, if you’re visiting Newport Indoor Market, make sure you stop by and see the immense choice and high-quality produce on offer – plus they’re still one of the only places in Newport where you can buy Chelsea buns and hot cross buns all-year round.
