Over 5,000 people took the opportunity to see live action battle re-enactments at Caldicot Castle over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Now in its third year, Fortress Wales is the largest event of its kind which brings together 600 actors from various historical re-enactment groups from all over the UK and Europe.
Re-enactments throughout the two day event included Medieval, Wild West, the First World War, the Second World War, the Wild West, and the Vietnam Conflict.
The manager of Caldicot Castle, John Sterry, explained that over 5,500 people had attended the event over the two days.
He said: “The event went very well and we saw a huge number of people attend.
“The bank holiday Monday was the busiest day with the great weather helping tremendously.”
Caldicot Castle is supporting the Royal British Legion this year and will be marking the 100th anniversary of the First World War with a poppy mortar at the end of each day to show remembrance of those lost in the great war.
