THE NEWPORT edition of Monopoly has become a sell-out with the board game well into a second print run.

The game was launched last month and features many of Newport’s finest and favourite landmarks including the Transporter Bridge and Tredegar House. Friars Walk, The Celtic Manor and Newport Retail Park are also included along with 22 landmarks voted to feature on the board by thousands of Newport residents.

The official customised Monopoly board for the city is proving hot property, with the board well into a second print run and a third poised. The Argus features as the usual Fleet Street square after game makers Winning Moves UK declared the decision a “no-brainer”.

Winning Moves UK are the makers of this board under license from Hasbro.

Dan Taylor, head of custom at Winning Moves UK, said: “At this rate, come Christmas Eve, the only ones left could well be those on Santa’s sleigh.

“The popularity of the board has taken us very much by surprise. The Newport and South Wales public has taken it to their hearts.”

He added: “Lots of boards are whizzing across the globe as Christmas presents for ex-pat loved ones. Online sales have been exceedingly brisk. We are on our second print-run and a third one is poised.”

The board is available at High Street stores across Newport and also widely online, including amazon.co.uk.
