UPDATE: 6.48pm

TRAFFIC is still busy on the westbound carriageway of the M4 between junction 24 at Coldra and junction 26 at Malpas.

The congestion is described as 'very slow' between the two junctions, but the eastbound delays have cleared.

South Wales Argus:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE M4 around Newport is experiencing ‘heavier-than-usual’ traffic with seven miles of stop-start tailbacks in both directions.

On the westbound carriageway, congestion is causing delays from junction 23A at Magor Services to junction 26 at Malpas.

On the opposite side of the motorway, traffic is affecting the route from the Malpas junction to junction 30 at Cardiff Gate.

As a result of the eastbound congestion, traffic is spilling over onto the A48(M) at junction 29 St Mellons.

There are no reports of any accidents or incidents.
