WALES international Hallam Amos has extended his contract with Newport Gwent Dragons – and the region has secured the services of three of his teenage teammates.
Wing/full-back Amos, who had a year left on his deal, has penned a long-term contract to stay at Rodney Parade and is joined in committing to the Dragons by Wales Under-20s trio Elliot Dee, Tyler Morgan and Joe Davies.
Amos, who made his Test debut against Tonga last autumn, has made 31 appearances for the region since making a try-scoring debut at London Wasps in November 2011.
From next season the 19-year-old medical student at Cardiff University will be mentored by Wales and Lions full-back Lee Byrne, who has signed from Clermont Auvergne on a two-year deal.
Hooker Dee made his regional debut against Mogliano in the Amlin Challenge Cup last October and has gone on to make eight more appearances, going up against the powerful packs of Bath, Munster, Northampton and Bordeaux-Begles.
The 19-year-old from Newbridge, who starts for the Under-20s against France this evening, will battle for spots in the matchday squad with Rhys Thomas, Rhys Buckley and Hugh Gustafson next season.
Highly-rated centre Morgan, 18, has caught the eye with Newport in the Premiership this season and made a pair of assured performances for the Dragons against the Scarlets and London Wasps in the LV= Cup.
The former Caerleon School pupil was the star of the show when Wales Under-18s took on their Australian counterparts last autumn and is on the bench for Wales Under-20s this evening.
The Dragons management had no fears about giving lock Davies his regional debut against the Scarlets at the age of just 17 last November.
The 18-year-old Newport High School student is already an imposing figure, standing at 6ft 5ins and weighing over 17st, and did superbly alongside former Wales international Adam Jones.
"Life's about being given opportunities," said director of rugby Lyn Jones. "These young lads will have their chance to become future Gwent and Wales stars, I hope they succeed."
