The Queen bestows the highest honour on Newport's unsung community hero Her Majesty the Queen has recognised the outstanding services of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rosemary Butler AM, by bestowing the unique title of Dame on her in the New Year's Honours. The international community are delighted that Rosemary Butler, who is truly a great champion of community cohesion and welfare, whose services have been recognised at the highest level. Rosemary Butler has not only served her constituents of Newport East, with immense dedication, but has also served Wales with honour. Aneurin Bevan would have been enormously proud of Newport's famous daughter. Rosemary Butler's services to the empowerment of women, community cohesion and welfare are the hallmarks of Newport's remarkable lady.
