Blackwood Argus paperboy and pals praised for rescue

A SOUTH Wales Argus paper boy and friends have been praised for a good deed.

Matthew Lloyd, from Blackwood, who has been a paper boy for ten years, was walking to a barbecue with friends Bryan Kuipers and Kimberley Thomas, when they came across a woman whose car was stuck in a ditch by Blackwood Garden Centre.

The driver, Ceri Travers, had travelled fromCheshire to scatter her grandad’s ashes near to where he grew up in Oakdale.

The trio stayed with the lady for two hours while she waited for a tow truck.

They then helped the tow truck driver by collecting wood from the garden centre to help get the car out.

In a letter to the Argus, Mrs Travers said: “I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Matthew, Bryan and Kimberley for all their help “And I wanted to tell their parents what an absolute credit they are to them,” she added.
