Admiral employees have donated more than 100 toys and baby equipment to the children’s wards in the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.

Each year many Admiral staff look to support projects that benefit the local community and this year, the renewals department based at the firm's Newport office choose to organise a collection for the Royal Gwent.

The hospital’s newly refitted children’s outpatient clinic was relocated to the Maple Centre at St Woolos Hospital in April. The unit has been completely renovated and designed to accommodate children and young people and was in need of toys and play equipment for the children while they wait for their appointments.

Charlotte Trebilcock, from Admiral’s Renewals department, said: “Everyone here has had to deal at some point with our local hospital and we really wanted to help a cause that was close to our hearts.

"We started with collecting toys just in our department but we then wanted to get everyone behind and pushed this through the whole of our Newport office.

"It was a privilege to support the children’s clinic in the Maple Centre and the children’s wards in the Gwent.”

The toys will be distributed around the Children’s Clinic, the Children’s Assessment Unit and the Children’s wards in the Royal Gwent Hospital.

Tina Davies, team manager for Child Health at The Royal Gwent, said: “The donation of toys will increase the play equipment in this area and therefore help to provide a child friendly environment and enhance the children and young persons’ experience.”
