COMEDY Port is ready to get started and the latest addition to the programme is courtesy of Tin Shed Theatre, who will again bring Launch Pad to URBAN in John Frost Square, providing a deep-sea themed venue for this year’s pop-up venue between October 8 and 13.

Tin Shed Theatre is made up of three performanceartists who studied at University of Wales, Newport and who will curate and create the URBAN venue Launchpad, which will be transformed into a submarine for the week. For anyone who came along to the space station last year; you know you’re in for a treat. For those of you who didn’t… go along and see an empty shop transformed into a pop-up comedy venue for a full-on deep-sea adventure.

Tin Shed have programmed an array of local comedy talent to entertain and delight and will host the Comedy Port launch and closing parties. The submarine will be manned by sea-faring characters who will take your tickets and pour your drinks.

After the huge success of the last two years, Comedy Port promises to be bolder and slightly more bonkers. There’s a variety of big names, up and coming local talent, alternative comedians fresh from Edinburgh, magical madness, musical comedy, funny films, a free fringe launch, closing party shows and much more.

Al Murray is already sold out, but the delicious comedy line-up promises not to disappoint: with comedy genius and Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner Tim Key with his Masterslut tour, comedy drama Moist, One Day In The Life of Lloyd Owen Langford, The Silky Pair, Highwayman Guy D’amnfine, awardwinning magician Paul Dabek and Merthyr Tydfil’s very own Dangerous Ryan, Dan Mitchell in Beak – the world’s first Seagull comedian, Comedy Family Fun Day and Comedy Club 4 Kids, Richard Ayoade in spoof sci-fi buddy movie The Watch and avant-garde comedian of prodigious talent Bridget Christie. The fun will take place in Launch Pad as well as The Riverfront.

There is also a Comedy Port Fringe Launch pass, allowing access to all seven Launchpad shows at URBAN for £15.

Tickets are on sale and full Comedy Port listings and tickets can be purchased online at newport.gov.uk/comed yport or The Riverfront box office.
