Once again Christchurch Music Society has pulled out all the stops to produce a fun filled night of family entertainment with the panto Aladdin.

The original script by Andrew Griffiths took us from panto China to Australia and back to Newport with lots of local place names thrown in.

Musical director Liz McAinsh (ok) and the small orchestra deserve praise for the variety of songs and musical interludes covering the many set changes.

Angela Everett as Genie of the ring (ok) narrated the story with a sense of fun as baddie Abanazar played brilliantly by Gareth Spreadbury had us hissing and booing every time he stepped on stage.

Lively Wishee Washee played by Bryn Middleton, his demure would be girlfriend Su Ling played by Sarah Purnell, the pivotal Widow Twankee played by the witty David Middleton and principal boy Aladdin played by the talented Kate Summers gave us our heroes and heroines.

With plenty of popular sing along songs from the opening Kung Foo Fighting to the Blues Brothers Somebody to Love finale there was something for everyone which had the audience joining in enthusiastically. Everyone in the Society - too many to mention - deserves praise for a fabulous show which will put a smile on your face whatever the weather.

The show ends tonight (sat) hope you are lucky enough to have a ticket.
