PLEASE whisper a gentle welcome to Shadow, our very special Dog of the Week.

Shadow came into the care of Newport City Dogs Home in early January. He weighed just 12 kilos. His was totally emaciated, utterly exhausted, and the home were unsure whether Shadow would make it through the night.

Shadow has been in the tender care of the staff at Newport City Dogs Home for a few weeks now and, although he is still quite poorly, we are seeing tiny improvements every day.

One of the Friends of the Dogs volunteers has very kindly offered to give Shadow some home comforts while he continues to recover and he has spent the last few days curled up by her side at home. Shadow will be coming back to the dogs home regularly for his medicated baths, and of course to meet any potential adopters - but this will need to be by appointment, as he will be staying on respite care until the staff and vets are happy that he is well enough to go to his new home.

Although he still has a long journey ahead of him, he is on the road to recovery.

If you feel you could offer Shadow or any of the stray, unwanted and homeless dogs at Newport a safe and loving home, please contact the staff on 01633 290 902 between 11am-1pm or 2pm-4pm.
