Polly, a five-month-old, crossbreed, is in need of a loving home.

Polly is an unfortunate casualty of Storm Doris. Her previous owner took her out during the height of the storm, let her off-lead on a beach, and poor Polly was completely traumatised by the high winds and howling gales.

She fled from her owner, went to ground, and spent a whole night trying to hide from the storm in the undergrowth. When she was discovered the next morning, Polly was shivering with cold, petrified, and completely closed down.

She has come such a long way in the past week though. The volunteers at Newport City Dogs Home have spent literally hours with Polly, just sitting quietly in her kennel, singing soft lullabies, pretending to eat minced chicken to try to encourage her to find her appetite, and finally we are beginning to see Polly’s inner puppy.

Polly would love to live with a young but calm family. She is friendly and curious with the other residents she has met, but sometimes tucks her little tail and runs away if they are too boisterous for her.

Polly needs a patient and loving home who will give her the time she needs to heal, to recover completely from her traumatic experience.

If you feel you could offer Polly a forever home, or would like to visit her or any of the stray, unwanted and homeless dogs at Newport City Dogs Home, please contact the staff on 01633 290 902 between 11am to 1pm or 2pm to 4pm.
