Naughty Boy has revealed that Zayn Malik won’t be working on any new music just yet.
The 30-year-old producer, whose real name is Shahid Khan, previously shared a demo of the pair’s collaboration on SoundCloud, days after the 22-year-old singer left One Direction.
Naughty Boy said fans shouldn’t expect new music from Zayn anytime soon. It has been 100 days since the singer quit the chart-topping boyband, saying he wanted to live like “a normal 22-year-old”.
“I’m getting into my next single, Zayn’s chilling out. It’s all good,” he said at the O2 Silver Clef Awards.
“I don’t think there’s any pressure on him so it’s time for me to get back to Naughty Boy. I’ve got my new single out next month, and I’m working on my album. I think Zayn’s chilling out and that’s what he should be doing.”
But he added that Zayn’s tunes will be “be soulful.”
Naughty Boy is currently working on his second album, the follow-up to his 2013 debut, Hotel Cabana.
“(There’s) some new acts, some interesting older acts and current acts. I’m keeping it interesting and exciting,” he teased.
“Obviously Emeli (Sande) is on the album, and I’m helping her record her album at the moment.”
He continued: “I just did a song with Jess Glynne and Emeli features on it as well, and that will be out around Christmas. I did a song with Tinie Tempah and Natasha Bedingfield yesterday – she’s amazing. I’m just trying to keep it interesting so people don’t get bored.”
