THERE are plenty of free events to keep young and old occupied this summer at the Winding House in New Tredegar.

From fun family activities and themagnificent Victorian winding engine, to bank holiday adventures and fascinating exhibitions and even the return of our the Winding House Film Club, the museum has something for everyone.

Every other Sunday through the holidays there will be a free showing of a classic family film at 2pm. On July 29, Raiders of the Lost Ark will be shown. On August 12 it will be Night at the Museum, and on August 26, Chariots of Fire. This summer, there is alsoA Month of Fun Days each Thursday afternoon in August. Each session includes intriguing historical puzzles, crafts, games and activities for families of all ages. Drop in and join the fun between 2pm and 4pm on August 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30.

A special week of events for young people,MyMuseum! also returns this year from August 13-17.

Budding curators aged nine to 14 can take control of the Winding House and discover how museums look after their collections.

They’ll pick which objects go on display for all our visitors to see – and decide howto display them!

Finally there’s a day of sporting bank holiday fun at the Sports Days and Stadiums event on Monday, August 27, in which participants can explore games, activities and competitions fromthe past and discover more about some local sporting heroes.
