SPRING is in the air and to celebrate the Argus has teamed up with electricity company Western Power Distribution to launch Picture Power - a fantastic photographic competition for children.

We want children to send us photographs on the theme of spring with the chance of winning digital camera equipment for themselves and their school.

The competition is open to all children aged from five to 16.

There will be two age categories - five to ten-year-olds and 11 to 16-year-olds - with the winner of each group winning a digital camera and accessories worth £150, with a further £500 of media equipment going to their school.

The runner up in each category will receive a digital camera and accessories worth £50.

Picture Power will run for the next six weeks, so there is plenty of time to get out and about to capture the best images of spring.

The closing date for entries is April 22.

To enter send your photograph with the attached entry form to Sue Madden, Newsroom, South Wales Argus, Cardiff Road, Maesglas, Newport, NP20 3QN.

Alternatively e-mail your pictures.
