BALLET Cymru’s The Light Princess, a new presentation featuring a score composed by Welsh harpist, Catrin Finch, will take to the stage of Newport Riverfront from May 19-20.
Using elements of circus and outstanding classical choreography the story draws inspiration from Sleeping Beauty, telling the story of a princess afflicted by a constant weightlessness, unable to get her feet on the ground, until she finds a love that brings her down to earth.
Featuring video projections and vibrant costumes, George MacDonald’s quirky and timeless tale takes on a new life, interpreted in dance to the haunting and lyrical music of Catrin Finch.
Ballet Cymru challenges its dancers to interpret some of the finest characters in literature. Under the Artistic Direction of Darius James, the company continues to develop its relationship with audiences through accessible outreach work and exceptional, stylish performances.
