THE BRECON Jazz Festival welcomes legendary five-time Grammy Award winner Dionne Warwick to the event this August.

The American singer made her name in 1964 with Walk On By and is synonymous with the Burt Bacharach gem Do You Know the Way to San Jose? and her huge hit Heartbreaker.

As well as star names, the festival also attracts emerging and Welsh talent.

Warwick will perform at the Mid Wales town’s Market Hall on Friday, August 10.

Another big name performing there is vibraphonist/vocalist Roy Ayers – the respected artist who is known as the Godfather of Neo-Soul – making an exclusive UK appearance.

Welsh pianist Huw Warren is involved this year as artist-in-residence, in collaborations with Thomas Stronen and Peter Herbert, and jazz fans can look forward to performances by the likes of Soweto Kinch, Neil Yates, Lighthouse, Trio Libero, Neil Cowley and Claire Martin.

The festival runs between August 10 and 12. Tickets are available at breconjazz.com, the Theatr Brycheiniog box office on 01874 611622 and 24-hour booking line 0844 858 8521.
