AREAS of Caerphilly county have benefited from funding for clean-up work in the past year, including 15 schools.
The money comes from the Tidy Towns initiative, with schools receiving free litter and recycling bins, help with tree and flower planting and tools to help cultivate green areas.
Highlands grasslands, Penllwyn, an area used as a pathway and play area, will also see enhancement works in 2013.
It is well known for fly-tipping and littering, but members of the community will assist with clean-ups, dense shrubbery will be removed and replaced with native trees and plants and wildlife habitats will be restored.
The Tidy Towns initiative is funded by the Welsh Government through Keep Wales Tidy.
