A nine-year-old girl hit by a car in Abercarn this afternoon was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.
A Gwent Police spokesman said the girl's injuries were not life threatening and were less serious than was initially thought.
The collision happened on High Meadow, on the A467 at Abercarn at around 4.30pm.
An ambulance arrived at the scene within five minutes and the injured girl was taken to hospital.
