Caerphilly Magistrates court was closed today, according to Ben Wright from PA, because the security van couldn't get near enough to the court building.
Cases did not go ahead at Caerphilly Mags today due to snow.... security van could not get close enough to court building.

(2/2) As car park was covered in snow, only option would have been to walk defendants out of van from the main road.

Apologies - Stagecoach is running services today, at least from the Brynmawr depot, but it does not appear to be updating via the web or social media as to what is or is not running. No one is answering in Cwmbran at the moment.
12:07pm
Newport Bus says it is operating the majority of its Saturday service. However there are significant exceptions and changes to a large number of routes, with some, such as the 10a, 10c, 4 and 5 not operating at all. The bus firm is updating on the status of the routes here.
12:03pm
A Met Office forecaster says we shouldn't get the amount of snow we did on Friday during today or Sunday - but its unlikely we will get a thawing either.
Temperatures in some places will fail to break freezing, and in others could reach two degrees. Overnight this could fall to minus five in parts of the South East.
While there may be snow at the weekend it is unlikley to fall in the amounts it did when Gwent ground to a halt at the end of the week.
The picture is more uncertain on Monday - with a band of rain, sleet and snow near the South West of the UK that could head towards Gwent.

still no sign of snow plough in newbridge it is left to traffic to clear it. The bus route outside the villas and labour club is very hazardous. What happens if a bus slides, hits the railings and tumbles past toy town down into the traffic lights. It does not bear thinking about it is totally unacceptable.

- Football and rugby pitches throughout the city's parks will be unavailable for use.
- Caerleon Golf Course is shut today and is likely to stay shut for a number of days.
- The NISV, Newport Centre, Underwood and Active Living Centre are open.

Also rather impressive are the efforts of Newport Bus, Cardiff Bus and First Bus in trying to keep passengers up to date.
No marks at all however to Stagecoach South Wales, who (their website tells us) are running no services at present. OK if you jave access to the web I suppose. But they do not have Facebook or Twitter feeds, and have barely updated the Traveline call centres at all.
Anyone from Stagecoach care to comment on what is a lamentable management failing? And it's not the first time either.

I am making criticism of a complete failure by their managers to have any sort of system which updates passengers as to what is or isn't happening. To not be embracing Twitter and Facebook is one thing.
Not even to be properly updating Traveline (who are telling people on Twitter that they aren't getting much info from the company) is such a serious failure that someone senior at the company should be carpeted.

Quite astonishing for a company in a large transport group that is normally very good at self-promotion (as indeed the local subsidiary is).
I repeat: any comment from senior Stagecoach managers? I shall certainly be asking the national group management.

But I dont think generally services ARE operating as normal; for instance I would doubt that services which are operating would be able to access all the estates that they normally would. You'd think that Stagecoach would be updating Traveline at least (and indeed their own website).
Its the drivers that always get it in the neck from passengers. Not the managers. And this company has NUMEROUS managers - where are they all? Snowbound?

Two people fell in the village today as I know of and an ambulance was at the top of main street when I ventured over.
I nearly went flying by labour club it is just a sheet of ice as was victoria terrace and dr's hill was like a glass bottle.
Then saw council workers gritting the pavements on the terrace so well done to both of them however couldn't understand why was no grit was put on the road at the same time.
At 2.20 pm a green tractor like vehicle came in front of villas and started to shift the snow and ice. It is very much appreciated.
Council lorry then went past but dropped no grit which was very odd.
