THE family of Steven Lewis, a Newport lifeguard who died of stomach cancer aged 31 in December 2011, are holding a series of fundraising events in a bid to raise £12,000 by the end of March.

As part of the event, mum Jackie is running an online auction on Facebook from March 1 to March 31.

Items include a John Hartson signed Celtic football shirt, John Hartson signed book, a weekend away at the Lighthouse Inn, Capel-le-Ferne, Folkestone with ferry crossing on the Saturday from Dover to Calais, a large silver mirror from George Street Furnishers, a John Hartson Grogg from the World of Groggs signed by Hartson, a family voucher for Cardiff Castle and a further 22 items.

Mrs Lewis also has an auction running on her fundraising Facebook page for a Manchester United signed football with authenticity certificate and hologram, which will run until 11.50pm on February 28.

Mrs Lewis and 13 of her friends and family will also be running the Steve Lewis Water Station at the finishing line of the Newport Half Marathon on Sunday.
