A senior officer at Gwent Police is set to become a chief constable at another Welsh Police force.
Gwent’s assistant chief constable Simon Prince is to start work as chief constable of Dyfed-Powys Police on April 1.
The region’s police and crime commissioner Christopher Salmon said Mr Prince was the right person to lead the fight against crime.
Mr Prince had worked for 22 years in the Gwent force. The appointment was made after Mr Salmon's recommendation was confirmed by the region's police and crime panel.
He said: “In times of financial challenge I will be looking where we can strip out waste, reduce bureaucracy and make sure every penny spent focuses on delivering an excellent service to the public.”
Mr Salmon said: “It is a great privilege to be the first commissioner to appoint a Chief Constable in Wales and I look forward to working with Simon Prince from April.”
