A NEWPORT schoolboy has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing another pupil today.

The 12-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault at Duffryn High School.

Police were called at 10.25am following reports that a pupil had injured another.

The injured boy is said to have received puncture wounds to his leg which are not thought to be serious.

He was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital for treatment.

The other boy remains in police custody and is being questioned.
