TWO young film-makers from Newport have picked up an international award for the trailer to their new motion picture.

Brothers William Langley, 14, and Alexander, 11, wrote, filmed, acted and edited their new film, Suspense. William cut it down to a 30-second trailer and submitted it to the Zoom Young Filmmakers Awards, where the boys won the Best Trailer category.

This is not the duo’s first award – they won Best Edited film with their piece, Gingie’s Tale, at the Media For Schools Wales awards last year.

The boys, who live in Langstone, have been making films in the summer holidays for more than six years, said mum Lisa Langley, but William was adamant that a good film-maker will not submit the same piece to different competitions.

“We heard about Zoom, which is open to young people up to the age of 24, from the Argus,” said Mrs Langley, a teacher, who has just opened a flower shop near Beechwood Park.

“The ceremony was held in a converted Methodist chapel in Tonypandy and there were people there from America and France.

The full film is 40 minutes and is an action film.”
