THE second Great Abergavenny Bake-Off saw a record number of budding bakers compete for the title of best celebration cake, cupcake, bread and junior baker.
The event, was held at the Cricket Club, Avenue Road, in aid of Cancer Research on Monday.
Judging the event were Simon King, of 1861 Restaurant, William Griffiths, of The Angel Hotel, James Bumpass, from The Three Salmons Hotel, Usk, and Llantilio Pertholey Women’s Institute.
Organiser Helen Maloney said the event was great success.
She said: “There were 44 entries and the standard was incredibly high this year.
“Themes ranged from wedding cakes to Mad Hatter’s tea party and helped to raise over £1,000.”
