A NEWPORT supermarket has given a school nearly £10,000 to start a garden project.
Employees at the Asda store in Coedkernew, Duffryn, presented Duffryn High School in Lighthouse Road with a cheque for £9,717.69 from money raised through the sale of 5p carrier bags, which will be put towards the building and sculpting of a community garden.
The garden project will have Asda employees and pupils working side by side to grow and manage a piece of land which has been set aside by the school.
