THE TENTH Welsh 99p Store will open in Newport in two weeks time, creating 30 jobs.
The new branch of the rapidly expanding UK discount brand will open on Thursday May 23 and will be the 223rd UK branch.
The new store opening at The Newport Retail Park will see the creation of around 30 brand new jobs.
As part of its opening, it will also offer one local person the chance to take part in a trolley dash world record.
This member of the Newport public will be able to ‘sweep’ up all they can scoop and put in their trolley in 99-seconds to celebrate the opening of the new store.
If they beat the world trolley dash record of 267 items in 99 seconds then they can keep double the amount of items collected.
Mr Lalani, co-founder and co-owner of the rapidly-multiplying value brand, said: “It has now become cool to shop at 99p Stores.
“The days of the public paying three times over the odds for everyday basics like branded toothpaste, coffee and washing-up liquid are a thing of the past."
