THOUSANDS are set to turn out at events in Gwent this weekend.

From May 10 to May 12, as part of Golf Live, the celebrity cup golf tournament will be held at The Celtic Manor Resort, Newport.

Described as "golf with added glamour" celebrities will become the players for the tournament.

The big names taking part include Olympic medallist Iwan Thomas, Welsh footballer Craig Bellamy, Dragon's Den guru Peter Jones Hollywood actor Ioan Gruffudd, Rob Brydon, Keith Duffy, Gethin Jones, Brian McFadden, Jodie Kidd and athlete Sir Steve Redgrave.

Aside from the celebrity spotting will be the interactive golf show which will include tips from players and coaches in interactive skills clincs, the latest equipment from big manufacturers and all sorts of fashion and gadgets.

There will also be news and offes from golf destinations and a behind the ropes experience with golfing legends and celebrities.

Daily and Season tickets are from £15 for adults and £5 children, all of which include full access to Golf Live and The Celebrity Cup.

A 10 kilometre run to raise funds for Gwent Wildlife Trust will take place in and around Undy next Sunday, May 12, with a one kilometre fun run as a shorter option. More details are available at www.gwentwildlife.org, or by telephoning 01600 740600.

At the same time a slightly different type of event will be the Tredegar House Folk Festival in Tredegar House & Country Park, Newport, on May 10, 11 and 12.

Celebrating its 24th annual festival, it will include a weekend of international dance, music and song.

Music will include Jamie Smith's Mabon, Bob Fox, Flossie Malavialle the Young'Uns and many more.

Free dance displays from local and international dance teams will also be held along with a real ale bar.
