A 14-YEAR-OLD girl was the victim of an attempted robbery in Rogerstone early this morning as she walked to school.
Police officers were called to the Rogerstone area following a report of an attempted robbery on a footpath off Tregwilym Road this morning.
The girl was walking to school at around 8.05am when she was approached on the footpath my a man who pushed her to the floor and tried to steal her mobile phone. The girl resisted and the man ran away. She was unharmed and nothing was taken.
A Gwent Police spokesman said: "Officers arrested a local 21-year-old man on suspicion of attempted robbery. He is in custody helping police with their enquiries."
