THE future is looking bright for Hilltop Community Sports in Ebbw Vale.
The organisation was struggling to replace its changing-rooms at the Hilltop ground.
The former changing block was condemned, which left players having nowhere to shower and change.
The club managed to secure partial grant funding when they first began looking into replacing the changing- rooms in 2008, but hit a stumbling-block when Community Facilities and Activities Programme (CFAP) funding was turned down.
Sharon Smith, a driving force behind the fight for a new facility, turned to Blaenau Gwent AM Alun Davies for help.
Mr Davies wrote to the Welsh Government asking for the CFAP application to be reviewed and giving the appeal his full support. A few months later, £197,000 was granted and the £330,000 needed was in place.
The facility is due to be opened at the end of May.
