A FAMILY is to raise money for the British Heart Foundation after the loss of two of their relatives to heart disease.
Leanne Erickson, 32, and her sister-in-law, Beckie Evans, 29, both of Cwmbran, have teamed up with six other friends and family members to take part in a sponsored walk for the charity.
Beckie Evans and her cousin, Lisa Evans, 27, organised the walk after the loss of their grandparents.
The walk from the Halfway House Inn, Little Mill, where the family used to live, to the Royal Gwent Hospital on August 25, will be in memory of their grandparents.
Beckie and Lisa Evans’ grandmother, Elsie Ann Evans, 73, died on December 26, 2012, and her grandfather, Archie Evans, 66, died on December 7, 2000.
Miss Erickson said: “My sister, Katie Erickson, works on the cardiology ward at the Royal Gwent Hospital so we will be raising funds for them as well.
“We would like you lovely people to dig deep.”
The team are hoping to raise at least £500 for the charity.
