A MONMOUTH mum has thanked staff at a Newport firm for raising more than £6,000 towards the cost of a life-changing operation for her daughter.

Helen Morgan, 30, and Chase Vaughan, six, of Cornwallis Way, visited Convey Law after it raised £6,312.50 of the £40,000 needed to pay for a procedure not funded by the NHS to save her from relying on a wheelchair in the future.

Chase, who was born 15 weeks early – weighing just 1lb 8oz, suffers from a debilitating nerve-muscle condition known as spastic diplegia cerebral palsy, which means she walks on her toes, has stiffness in her legs and poor balance and co-ordination.

Miss Morgan reached her £40,000 target earlier this month, eight months after launching the campaign.

Chase will undergo the procedure, known as selective dorsal rhizotomy, which uses a technique developed in St Louis, USA, at Bristol’s Frenchay Hospital on June 17.

To raise the funds the firm offered its clients a chance to win a full refund on their basic legal fees by donating £10.
