THE CWMBRAN bricklayer who wowed audiences and judges alike on Britain’s Got Talent is performing again tonight.

Robbie Kennedy, 22, from Oakfield, Cwmbran, shot to fame after his performance of Goo Goo Dolls’ Iris on April 27, after which he was given a standing ovation from all four judges.

The former Llantarnam Comprehensive pupil, who left school at 16, explained to us, that he didn’t start singing in public until he was about 18, when he started doing karaoke in his local pub, The Oakfield.

He said: "I’ve never had a singing lesson and I learnt the guitar about five years ago by watching YouTube videos."

His performance made such an impact that the hit song, released in 1998, has now reappeared in the top ten in the iTunes Store Top 10 Songs chart.

He will go head to head with other contestants on tonight’s live semi-final show at 7.30pm on ITV.

Joining him will be Hungarian shadow dance group Freelusion, rapper MC Boy, dancer Joseph Hall and dance troupe Pre Skool.

Also singer Rosie O’ Sullivan, vocal group the Luminites, illusionist Stevie Pink and juggler Thomas Bounce.

First they will face the public vote, with the act with the highest number automatically going through to the final.

The two runner-up acts will then face the judges, who will choose their favourite act.
