MARK Bridger is a sorry excuse for a human being.

Last October little April Jones disappeared from near her Machynlleth home, sparking the biggest search in UK police history.

The five-year-old’s body has never been found.

Yesterday a judge branded Bridger a “pathological liar” and “a paedophile” as he jailed the 47-year-old for the rest of his life for the abduction and murder of April.

The evidence against Bridger – a fantasist who claimed to be a member of the SAS but had never served in the armed forces – was compelling.

Yet he maintained the flimsiest of lies throughout his trial, claiming he had accidentally knocked April down with his car but could not remember what he had done with her body.

Almost eight months since they last saw their little girl, April’s parents Coral and Paul still have no idea where her body is.

Amoving statement by Mrs Jones read to the court yesterday said she has to live with the guilt of allowing April out to play with friends on the day she was abducted.

That must be horrendous.

The only person who should feel any guilt about what happened to April is Mark Bridger.

He will never be freed. He has nothing to lose.

The least he can do nowis show a glimmer of humanity and tell the police where April is, for the sake of her parents.
