THIEVES stole £100 worth of plants just a week after they were planted outside a Newport beauty salon.

Staff at Heaven Sent Day Spa on Clytha Park Road planted marigolds, lavender and begonias in the court yard outside the salon in a bid to make it more attarctive for customers.

But they were upset to find they had been dug up and taken away when they returned to work on Monday morning.

An image captured by the business' CCTV cameras shows a man outside the premises in the early hours of Sunday morning at around 3am.

Staff are asking him to get in touch with police as he may have information, which may help the police with their investigation.

Owner Trish Fulford said all at the salon were saddened by the theft.

She said: "We have done everything we can to make things nice for Newport and this is so unfair."

"It's so disheartening when you're to do something good. Everyone needs to pull together to help Newport and for someone to do this isnot nice."

Police were called to the premises at 1.30pm on Tuesday. Officers believe the thefts happened around 3.40am on June 9.
