A TEENAGE boy was taken to hospital after injuring himself on a spike in Newport.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics were called to reports of a male who had injured himself on a spike in Chepstow Road, Newport, just before 5pm on Saturday.

She said: “We sent a rapid response vehicle and an emergency ambulance to the scene, and a teenage boy with a throat injury was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital.”

Gwent police and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service had no reports on the incident and a Newport council spokeswoman said no report of the incident had been made to the council.
