A RESTAURANT owner was left with serious injuries following a “brutal” attack in Garndiffaith.

Armaan Quadri, 27, who is director of India Garden, High Street, Tranch, was delivering food when his car was stopped by three men who started attacking him in the car before dragging him out and beating him up in the street.

Mr Quadri, who was in Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny, as the Argus went to press, was left with cuts, bruises and swelling to his face and head and a broken wrist following the incident outside K2 Star Kebab on Saturday evening.

Friend Hasan Chowdhury, 26, said Mr Quadri is unable to remember much of the attack but an eyewitness described how the victim had been driving in a car along the road when it was stopped by a group of two or three men.

Mr Ahmed, who works in a shop in Stanley Road, said the men were shouting by the window of the car and, after a few seconds, he realised they were fighting.

He said: “They started punching him inside the car.”

Mr Ahmed called the police but said the men then dragged the victim out of the car and carried on kicking and hitting him.

He said a woman then arrived and phoned an ambulance and the attackers made off.

He said: “He was bleeding badly – from his nose, eyes. He was bleeding everywhere. He was badly injured in his head. He couldn’t tell me anything.”

He said police arrived and cordoned off the area and an ambulance took the victim to hospital.

Mr Ahmed said: “For the last few nights I haven’t been able to sleep.”

Mr Chowdhury said his friend, who also works as a bank manager at Santander, Merthyr Tydfil, had undergone an operation on his wrist and it was expected to be about six to eight weeks before he was fully recovered.

He said: “It was brutal.”

Police are now appealing for information following the assault which happened at around 6.30pm.

Police believe there were people on Stanley Road at about 6.20pm who may have seen something significant as well as one man in particular who possibly witnessed the assault. They are also appealing for the driver of a blue Citroen, that was on Stanley Road at 6.24pm, to come forward. Anyone with information should call 101 and quote log number 469 28/9/13.
