ON TUESDAY employees from Tata Steel’s Llanwern site spread some festive cheer when they presented older patients at St Woolos Hospital with gifts they had collected.
As part of their ‘From Tata Steel with Love’ campaign, the company collaborated with Age Cymru Gwent to collect Christmas presents for more than one hundred older people staying at St Woolos Hospital.
The gifts were then presented to the older people at the hospital on Tuesday.
Anne Jones from Age Cymru Gwent said: “A lot of older people staying at the hospital while they wait for a vacancy at a local care home have little or no family to support or look after them throughout the year, let alone at Christmas, so the festive season can be a particularly lonely time for them.”
“We are extremely grateful to the employees at Tata Steel in Llanwern for going out of their way to collect presents for the older people in our community. A small gesture like that will make a huge difference to each and every one of them.
Nia Singleton from Tata Steel said, “At Tata Steel we aim to do anything we can to help improve the health and wellbeing of older people within our local community. We were delighted to join forces with Age Cymru Gwent to help combat social isolation among older patients at St Woolos Hospital and really enjoyed helping to spread some festive cheer yesterday.”
