EMERGENCY services were called to reports of a person jumping off George Street Bridge, Newport, last night.
A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) boat was deployed to the scene, shortly after 6.28pm, as was a police helicopter but the situation was deemed a false alarm.
SWFRS personnel also attended on foot.
A spokeswoman for the fire service said both banks were searched.
“No-one was found,” they added.
