THE Welsh Government is seeking comments and views on a draft version of the Welsh Declaration of the Rights of Older People before the consultation deadline in March.

The proposed declaration sets out the rights that older people have and would help statutory bodies and service providers who work for, or on behalf of older people, to know what is expected in Wales.

It would include guidance on what is expected to ensure older people receive the support and services they need. It would also help older people to know what their rights are by clearly setting out their entitlements.

The government particularly would welcome comments from older people, young people, families, carers, black and minority ethnic interest groups, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender interest groups, residents associations, housing associations, credit unions, care and support workers, organisations made up of older people, organisations which provide services to older people and which work for or on behalf of older people, as well as employers and education and training providers.
