Monmouthshire A4042 closed by multi-vehicle accident

A BUSY Monmouthshire Road was closed earlier today because of a multi-vehicle accident.

The A4042 in Monmouthshire was closed with heavy traffic in both directions shortly after 11am because of an incident involving four cars and a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with a broken wrist and facial injury, while an ambulance service helicopter attended as a precaution.

Police were called and re-directed traffic between the B4269 junction in Llanellen and the Capel Ed Lane junction in Penperlleni.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said the road has recently reopened.
