A BINGO club at a Newport community centre have raised £500 in aid of St David’s Hospice Care.
The group of 25 members at Baneswell Community Centre have raised the money for their friend Diane Burrows who, along with her husband, has been running the centre for the last 40 years. Mrs Burrows has been receiving treatment for liver cancer from the hospice.
Dawn Lord, volunteer at the community centre, said: “The charity is close to our hearts. We’ve gradually built up a nice amount for St David’s Hospice Care who are involved in Diane’s care. We all just wanted to help out.” The money was raised through from bingo nights held on Friday evenings at the centre. Members presented the money to a representative of St David’s Hospice Care at a bingo evening on Friday.
