A NEWPORT teen could be the next Penn or Teller after dazzling judges at a magicians-only contest with his guillotine trick.

Jordan Parton, 14, has been doing magic tricks since he was nine and in December was named South Wales’ best close-up magician under 18 by the Cardiff Magic Society, of which he is the youngest member.

“There are four main types of magic – cardistry, close-up magic using cards and small props, stage magic, and illusions,” said the St Julian’s School pupil.

Also a juggler and balloon entertainer known as Crazy Clown Balloons, Jordan never leaves the house without a deck of cards.

“I started after I saw a video of Penn and Teller,” said Jordan, who does youth work at St Julian’s Baptist Church when he’s not performing magic tricks to passers-by in Newport city centre.

“I love the reaction from people. I am constantly practising tricks, I learn or create two to three tricks a week.”
