Not everyone who resides in NP has a "Newport accent". The panel could have included one of the Rt Honourable Members for Newport. However, Mrs Jessica Morden might have been considered in favour of Paul Flynn as we don't hear much from her e.g. very quiet over the former Lawns Club, the religious signs in a conservation area, Chartist Memorial...Newport needs to regenerate quickly, or die. Cheap shops are not the answer if businesses want to attract real money. Local business owners were, I hope, represented in the audience. Let us hope that Newsnight was a positive- will view it on 'catch up.'

regarding caerphilly cbc:
I think we should have a brand new set of councillors in caerphilly. The general public are not interested in money being wasted on artwork for villages but more interested in public toilets being kept open. They don’t expect the so called elite to spend taxpayers money on buffets when community cafes are then ear marked for closure. Whenever you go past any of the numerous council buildings you see them lit up like blackpool illuminations only to have street lights shut off in local villages. Cleaners for the vulnerable in caerphilly are far more important than the council offices being kept clean. It strange caerphilly council got no money yet they have spent 90 million in bargoed even to the point of building a cinema when that is the responsibility of the cinema group. SORT OUT YOUR PRIORITIES PLEASE!

Nigel Farage: I will resign unless we win election seats

Ukip's Nigel Farage has said he will resign as leader of the party if his prediction of winning several seats in the next General Election does not come to pass.

In his main address to conference goers in Torquay, Mr Farage said he believed seats in the Commons in 2015 were achievable if the eurosceptic party clears its next hurdles in European and local council elections this May.
