THE PYLON on fire on a hillside behind Cwmdraw Industrial Estate in Ebbw Vale has collapsed and emergency services have shut off a nearby road.
A crew from Ebbw Vale was called at 4.14pm and is still tackling the fire.
The electric pylon is described by South Wales Fire and Rescue as ‘severely damaged’ and has collapsed.
The fire service has received more than 66 calls from concerned residents about the fire.
A SWFRS spokeswoman said there is a 33,000 volt overhead power line on fire on open mountainside.
Western Power Distribution, the electricity distribution network operator for South Wales, has been called.
The spokeswoman added crews are concerned for horses and dogs in a nearby field, and the owner has been contacted to move the animals.
Police are also at the scene as a nearby lane has been closed for safety reasons.
