A DISABLED man given a week to live at birth marked his 60th birthday in style with a meal with friends and a stretch limo party.

Stephen Dombrowski, of Malpas Road, Newport, got into the luxurious limousine with his big sister Christine and their pals and drove down to the Peachy Keens restaurant in the city on Thursday [May 1].

His full-time carer, Christine, recalled how he was given an emergency hospital christening after being born with cerebral palsy and it was feared he might not make it beyond a week.

But he survived then learnt to walk at a special school and went on to work at a Cwmbran centre, making coat hangers and scuba diving mats.

To mark his landmark birthday, Christine decided to organise the outing with the chauffeur driven limousine.

Mr Dombrowski had a brilliant time and was showered with presents and birthday cards.

Christine, 61, said: “Everyone had a fab time. Peachy Keens supplied a cake for Steve as well and their staff were so helpful nothing was too much trouble.

“Dave the driver of the stretch limo was such a great help getting everyone in and out the limo and they all enjoyed the ride home as well.”
