POLICE are appealing for help in finding a man who has absconded from prison and may be in Gwent.

Darren Williams, 32, left HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire this morning after he had been provided with medication he takes for anxiety at about 8.30am.

He has not been seen since.

Darren Williams is white, 6ft 9ins tall of slim build with brown eyes and a shaven head. He is clean shaven and has tattoos on his left hand, left wrist and left arm.

He was in prison for robbery and theft offences, committed in Wales.

He has links with Tredegar but may still be in the Bristol or South Gloucestershire area.

Darren Williams may appear subdued and anxious.

Anyone spotting him is advised not to approach him but call the police on 999.
