A Gwent Police investigation into the incident is ongoing, and the inquest was adjourned for eight weeks. Five other people were injured in the crash including three other occupants travelling in the Fiesta who received neck/leg injuries which were not life-threatening and two people travelling in the other car involved, an Opel Manta.

The male driver received life-threatening injuries and the female passenger received leg injuries which were not life-threatening.
