TWO Newport-born filmmakers have premiered their short film parody of Dylan Thomas’ life.
Abergavenny teacher and Doctor Who actor Sean Carlsen worked with documentary filmmaker Rob Finighan to make the short film Do Not Go Mental, which the pair partly filmed in Gwent.
Mr Carlsen, from Llanfoist, wanted to create the ‘mockumentary’ film, which tells the story of a fictional contemporary of Dylan Thomas, as an alternative project to celebrate the Welsh poet’s centenary.
The film had its first preview on Sunday at the Strange Wales Arts Festival in Laugharne, South West Wales, and was followed by an audience feedback session.
Do Not Go Mental includes Russell Gomer from comedy Stella and Boyd Clack from BBC dramas Being Human and Baker Boys. Two more screenings will take place in October in Swansea and at the Saatchi Gallery London.
