THE Newport Food Festival returns today and there are a variety of events on offer.

The one-day festival, in its fourth year, celebrates the city’s vibrant food sector.

Jointly-sponsored by the Celtic Manor Resort and Coleg Gwent, among the events featured are chef demonstrations, masterclasses, and the Teenchef final. More than 70 stalls will also be selling local produce in Bridge Street and Commercial Street.

Newport market and the Riverfront will host a number of chef demonstrations and masterclasses, with Hywel Jones, Emma Evans, and Michael Hendy among the headliners.

MasterChef 2014 champion, Ping Coombes, will also be giving a free demonstration at the Riverfront at 12pm, but tickets are limited and will need to be reserved in advance.

The Riverfront will also host the Teenchef final, sponsored by Western Power Distribution, and four teams of talented young chefs will battle it out for the title from 2pm.

Further presentations, on everything from Welsh breakfast to Welsh tapas, will be held at Newport Market and Masterchef finalist, Angela Langford will give a demonstration at 2pm.

An over-18s ‘beer banter’ talk from a number of local breweries will also take place between 12pm and 4pm at Newport Market, with a £3 entry charge.

Waterstones in Commercial Street is offering a number of cake and pastry demos, between 10am and 3pm, including classes on latte art and cake decoration.

The Project Space in Commercial Street, will host tasters and workshops between 10am and 4pm.
